The present research aims to determine the relationship between the memes on the fanpage of a police institution and the recognition of young people. To support the study, the functionalist theory that includes communicative action as a social diffuser has been used. Likewise, to understand the linguistics and paralinguistics of the meme, semiotic theory has been used. The theory of uses and gratifications has also been considered, which understands the subject as a content consumer based on their needs. Similarly, the comprehensive communications management model has been used to explain how action and communication should be interrelated. The applied methodology is the quantitative approach, the design is non-experimental, cross-sectional and correlational level. The study population corresponds to the Santa Clara sector, located in the Ate district, belonging to Metropolitan Lima, with a population of 19,429 young people. The sampling is simple random probability, with a sample of 376 people. The technique used is the survey and its instrument, the questionnaire. Among the most relevant results is that the majority of young people affirm that memes generate some type of recognition. Finally, it has been concluded that there is a moderate significant relationship between the study variables.
